Job Responsibilities

Do you want to contribute to ensuring that children and young people have good growing conditions? Do you want to work on strengthening the relationship between children, parents, and other important adults around the children?

The Early Intervention Unit in collaboration with children and families is now seeking a parent supporter focused on expectant parents and parents with children up to 6 years old.

The position focuses on the areas of Linné, Masthugget, and Majorna. The unit's main office is located at Storgatan 53, but you will primarily be stationed in your focus area. The position is a 1-year temporary contract.

As a parent supporter, you provide support and preventive measures aimed at the entire family. You primarily work with individual conversations with parents, where your task is to strengthen the relationship between parents and children to benefit the children's development. Additional tasks include group activities, guiding and motivating to other arenas and activities, as well as providing consultative support to other professionals. As a parent supporter, you work family-centered and are part of the social services' promotional and preventive work.

The position is part of a team with 7 other parent supporters who collaborate and support each other in daily work with families. You will also have close cooperation with other colleagues in the unit who are coordinators within family-centered work (FCA) as well as with staff at Child Health Centers (BVC) and Midwifery Clinics (BMM). The position involves a significant amount of cross-professional collaboration and a high degree of independence, which requires the ability to plan and organize your own work.

Based on a family-centered approach, you work proactively and collaborate closely with various actors where families are present, such as midwifery clinics, child health care, libraries, open preschools, preschools, civil society actors, and more. This is to reach as many families as possible in the geographical area you operate in. All interventions are general and open to anyone seeking contact, but they should be designed in such a way that they make the greatest difference for the families with the greatest needs. The aim is to contribute to more equal growing conditions for children. The assignment also includes working together with colleagues and the team leader to develop the work for a fair and effective social service with a focus on early interventions and a more equal city.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a degree in social work or an equivalent qualification that the employer deems relevant for the assignment. We consider it a requirement that you have at least five years of work experience in social work with children and families, as well as knowledge of network work and experience working with a systemic perspective. We would also like you to have experience with individual conversations.

It is advantageous if you have experience working with families and parent support in groups, collaborating cross-professionally, working with parent support programs ABC and the Safety Circle, and if you have experience with the social services' authority.

You have the ability to listen to and create an understanding of the people you meet in your professional role in order to understand their needs. You are open and accommodating in your relationship with others, and you show respect, consideration, and care.

You can overview your own area of responsibility and place the significance of your own operations in a larger context. You show interest in and collaborate with others to meet the needs of children and families with a holistic perspective.

You are outgoing and socially active in professional contexts. You create good relationships and build networks with people at all levels, both within your own organization and outside of it. By showing interest in others, you find opportunities for relevant collaborations.
